Take care of yourself in the sun this summer

Posted by julia on 01 Jun 2007 | Tagged as: The Loveantiaging way of life

I think that what they are saying about global warming is very true. The sun nowadays seems to reflect with much intensity than in past years. What does that mean for us? Well, knowing that the sun is the number one enemy to our skin, being that wrinkles would gladly wait to come out if it wasn´t for the warm invitation of the sun.

This summer make sure you protect your face and skin specially your children who have a greater risks of sunburn and destroying cells that will never resurface. There are hundreds of sun protection products on the market today for you to choose from but make sure you understand what they are trying to sell you before you buy. the SPF factor of these products do not actually indicate the percentage of protection you will receive they simply state the amount of time you are able to stay in the sun without the danger of getting burned. For example an SPF 50 doesn´t protect you more than a 20 it just simply means you will not have to reapply the stuff as often.

you can got to med read more on the subject.

Seniors stay young thanks to staying in touch with new technology

Posted by julia on 26 Apr 2007 | Tagged as: The Loveantiaging way of life

seniorcitizensoncomputers.jpg
Today on the bus ride to work I ran into a couple of, well I don’t want to call them, seniors, or grannies, because that would probably insult them, anyway they have been married for 60 years, she is 80 years old and he is 84, they are my neighbours, and let me tell you they are aware of everything that is trendy.

Talking with them they told me they were going in to the city to by a new computer, because the one they currently use needs some updating in order for them to be able to play all the videogames they have. He was listening to rap music on his ipod and she was holding a copy of the latest issue of Vouge, because she loves to stay on top of the latest trends.

I realized that older people nowadays that are aware of new technologies and trends are much happier and healthier than the ones who have given up the technological fight due to fear or insecurity. I found an article that confirms by thoughts, by reporting that there have been scientific reports that conclude what I had thought.

L’oreal and anti-aging products

Posted by julia on 18 Apr 2007 | Tagged as: The Loveantiaging way of life, beauty products

Last year L’Oreal said to have invented a new ingredient called Pro-Xylane, that would be used in various of their anti-aging products which would revolutionize the cosmetic market.

Nowadays, we could find this ingredient in their product line called Absolue Premium BX, a line of cosmetics that helps regulate the fluctuation of hormones that could cause aging symptoms. 10 years a go l’oreal developed their products with young girls in mind forgetting about the mature woman whom they thought did not purchase many beauty creams. They finally realized that these mature women did in fact want to purchase cosmetics but had nothing that really catered to them.

so l’Oreal along with many other companies now have turned their marketing campaigns around and are now developing specific creams for women 40 an older who in reality love to take care of their skin as well as their younger sisters.

New names for anti-aging but the same message

Posted by julia on 17 Apr 2007 | Tagged as: The Loveantiaging way of life

I just finished reading a very interesting article in CNN that talks about the new American craze, really the new world wide craze with aging. It seems it now has been giving different names such as “age-management” , “pro-age”, or simply put anti-aging. It doesn’t matter what the title or language this new trend has the message remains the same.

It seems, that more and more people are becoming a little obsessed with getting older and the effects their bodies will under go through this process. This is why this new anti-aging medicine has become so popular in the last 10 years or so. anti-aging products have more than doubled and it is estimated that this new marker has an estimated worth of about $45.5 billion.

All these age crazy people are visiting these anti-aging specialists who monitor their health day by day by the means of vitamins, specific treatments, blood work to control diseases and scheduled exercises routines all along with motivation which after all costs thousands of dollars that all believers of this new medicine say is worth it.

Cronobiology, your internal clock

Posted by julia on 13 Apr 2007 | Tagged as: The Loveantiaging way of life

Each one of us has our own internal clock and if we have any changes to this in our lives, such as the recent time change, we could suffer biological consequences that could make us sick. I admit that my internal clock is a little off, I´m a night person and love to sleep in all morning long.. although I don´t get to do that as often as I like.

Cronobiology is a science that studies the biological functions of our bodies, being physical or emotional. Our body regulates itself according to precise cycles that are regulated by the biorhythms or our internal clock.

So what does all that mean? Well, this is how I see it.. We need to respect our internal clock because it is the boss, trying to change or modify our internal clock is asking for problems. Our body is very intelligent and knows what it needs, we need to stay alert and aware of what it is asking us for and make sure we are responding accordingly..
