Facial Yoga exercises to rejuvenate your look

Posted by julia on 28 Sep 2007 | Tagged as: getting in shape

Yoga is the new rave nowadays and women from all over the world have found their effects to be the most gratifying on their body and mind. Even I have jumped on this bandwagon and don’t miss my daily yoga class. One of the exercises we do in these classes is facial exercises which at first caused some of us to laugh but our teacher has assured us this is no laughing matter.

Even though these exercises seem funny to look at they help strengthen our facial muscles saving us wrinkles in the future. They help prevent flaccidness and they increase circulation giving us a much more relax and Juvenal look. Our facial structure is composed of 20 muscles, so there is a lot to work out. The combination of breathing and exercise helps tone your face and make you look much brighter and younger.

I wish someone would have told me this 20 years a go so that my face could have been a little more fit now, although it is never too late, so take a deep breath and stick your tongue out, see how good you fell and look.

Osteoporosis sooner than you think

osteoporosis.jpg

I was 20 years old when as a professional ballet dancer, doctors from our ballet company discovered that my terrible feet pain was something that was not the normal dancer pain. After many tests and theories an x-ray revealed the demon that was behind my suffering and which would condemn me to a life of pain, osteoporosis.

What? How? It couldn’t be, but yes my friends it was true and although it’s not very common at that age it could happen. All women out there should always be on the alert and not think that “old people” diseases are going to affect us later in life. A woman should start preventing these diseases sooner than later. Exercise has been by saving force and without it I’m not sure I would be walking today. Exercise strengthens your muscular system by protecting your skeleton from possible fractures.

Living a healthy lifestyle at a young age will prevent pains in the future. Maintaining a healthy diet is something that is never too early to start.

Exercise and competition among friends

Posted by julia on 27 Ago 2007 | Tagged as: getting in shape

I have always thought that at the time of having to exercise it is better to do it with a friend by your side for moral and emotional support. But what happens when that friendship turns in to a competition? Well, I think that is something that could be healthy because competition gives you motivation to reach your goals. But you need to be careful not to compare yourself to others because our bodies and abilities are different that the rest.

It is very important that we keep in mind that our way of losing weight, eating and thinking are different than our friends, so if your friend is losing weight faster than you or could run her head off don’t let that get you down on the contrary look at it as another goal you need to surpass.

48 hour diet to detox

48hourdiet.jpg

In just 48 hours you can eliminate a couple of pounds and at the same time impurities in your body that will help detox your internal system. The 48 hour diet is one a favourite with Hollywood celebrities, who use it every time they need to look their best before a special event.

This diet is very simple (if you could stand it) for 48 hours all you need to do is only drink the special 48 hour drink ( a bottle a day), more than half a litre of citric fruit juices, and as much water as your body needs. No solid foods or you will ruin the diet.

I think this is a great diet if you only do it once in a long while because it helps you clean your body and leaves you feeling Light. All diets you should consult your doctor to make sure it is something your body will be able to tolerate.

exercisehoroscope.jpg

I was born Ander the zodiac sign on Libra and according to an article I have just read I’m an indecisive person that needs balance in my life and in the gym I need to have more patience when waiting for the machines I’m so eager to get on and that I should practice a sport like boxing or judo..Well, aside from the boxing and judo part, which I would never even attempt, the rest is true.

I love to read things like this because it makes light of things we sometimes get too stressed out about such as going to the gym and staying in shape.

Exercise and Nintendo Wii

nintendowiigames.jpg

Now you don’t even have to leave your house to exercise, first they invent the handy dandy DVD player in which you can purchase loads of yoga, aerobic or any other kind of exercise DVD’s so you can exercise in the comfort of your own home. But it looks like that is all passé now, people want more. And more is what Nintendo is offering with their new Wii games. These games not only offer you to imitate movements on a screen, no they offer more than that, now you can actually play tennis against your television.

All this is great but I think pretty soon we are going it start seeing a lot on unnecessary injuries from people who start playing these games not realizing it is actual exercise and they should not be doing it. Either way I think all this is pretty cool and this Christmas I plan to get one of these for my son (of course I will borrow it as much as I want)

Senior Citizens and exercise

My mother who has never exercised in her life has decided at her 60 + years to take up yoga. She consulted her doctor who encouraged her and told her it was very important for seniors to take care of themselves but with caution. What type of exercise is right for seniors really depends on the senior and their abilities. After a certain age most people have health problems that they should take into consideration before doing any type of sports.

Yoga is one of those exercises that is very recommendable as well as Tai Chi, or simply just walking. The most important thing is to keep your body moving so we can keep youth at our side.
