Young at heart at any age

Posted by ferran on 04 Jan 2007 | Tagged as: About Love Antiaging

Who ever said age matters? Feeling young is a state of mind, everyone knows that , or everyone should know that. I was so amazed when I read about Mae Laborde a 97 year old woman who decided 4 years a go that she wanted to try acting. She has a steady career now and is happier than ever.

It goes to show that a mental attitude with a young heart is what keeps us truly young. Keeping our dreams alive keeps us young and alive longer. This new year try to maintain your youthful spirit and you will see how good you feel.

Fresh Flowers help your state of mind

Posted by ferran on 03 Jan 2007 | Tagged as: About Love Antiaging

I just love having fresh flowers at home. I´am not sure if it is because of the smell they leave behind or just the plain beauty at their sight, whatever it is, it just makes me feel happy.

I now come to find out that a behavioral study was done by Nancy Etcoff, Ph.D., of Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School with findings that are not really surprising to me. Dr. Etcoff concluded in her research that people with fresh flowers at home were happier and healthier than those who did not.

Part of our health comes from our surroundings and certain circumstances that present themselves daily. I say if having fresh flowers at home is going to help us gain more energy, be happier and less stressed why not do it. In the end, our state of mind is what keeps us healthy and young.

Start the New Year with a short morning exercise routine

Posted by ferran on 02 Jan 2007 | Tagged as: About Love Antiaging

The new year is here and like every year we promise make changes such as improve our health, get organized, do things we didn’t´ get to do the year before, and overall try to change our life for the better. Exercise is usually one of the first things on our list we want to improve but if you are someone like me with two young children, a job and a house to maintain, time is an issue when it comes to an exercise regime.

I have come to the realization that I need to make time to take better care of myself and exercise is essential to our well being, so after doing a little soul searching I have come up with a plan. A 10 minute morning yoga time. There is a great DVD I found called Perfect in Ten: 10 minute workouts, I also read an article that adding a ball and band gives the exercises a little more of an edge and makes it a little more fun.

I have no excuse now, I will wake up a couple of minutes earlier and start my new 2007 healthy lifestyle. I encourage you to do the same.

Maintaining breast health

Posted by ferran on 13 Dec 2006 | Tagged as: About Love Antiaging

Our bodies age at different rates but what´s for sure is that gravity will get the best of us one day or another. The effects of gravity are seen on our faces to all but our breasts are the ones that ultimately suffer the worse. Maintain an exercise regime and nurturing our bodies as well as moisturizing these sensitive parts of our system are essential to the final outlook.

As the years pass by and specially after giving birth our breasts start to sag and lose their perkiness. We sometimes take it for granted and forget to take care of our breasts.  Nowadays there are many breast care products, exercises, and most importantly self test that all form part of our breast health.

With a little special attention to these very important and life giving parts of our body, we can continue to be healthy and beautiful sagging and all.

Differences between aerobic and anaerobic exercices

Posted by ferran on 02 Nov 2006 | Tagged as: About Love Antiaging

Every person has goals and getting in shape is one of the hardest goals to achieve for some. When we start talking about exercise we don’t know where to start, what is the best type of exercise for us? There are two types of exercise we need to keep in mind when starting a exercise regimen, aerobic and anaerobic .  .

The words aerobic and anaerobic refer to energy pathways that are utilized during exercise. Aerobic means “with oxygen” and anaerobic means “without oxygen”. Fat needs oxygen to burn completely so in order to burn fat during an exercise we need to move slowly and smoothly. This enables muscle cells to be supplied with enough oxygen to continue with its aerobic capacity and utilize fat as the main energy source. Anaerobic exercise requires moving at an increased pace or with greater effort. Exercising this way burns more calories but results in a greater demand for oxygen which cannot be delivered in sufficient quantities to allow cells to continue burning fat. When we breath heavy we start to develop an oxygen debt and muscle cells switch to burning mainly carbohydrates, this fuel burns quickly and does not require oxygen.

Each is necessary to maintain a well balanced routine, we need to combine a little of both, for example weight training and jogging, or swimming and tennis.  Exercise programs like those of the Firm utilize both types of these trainings and the results are fabulous, I’m a true believer of the system.  Everyone needs to consult their doctor before starting any time of new exercise regimen to make sure their bodies are able to cope with the all the changes exercise gives our bodies.

You don’t have to get all twisted up like a pretzel to be able to practice yoga and you should practice yoga because the benefits are many. By practicing yoga and turning your body into positions you might think are a little strange you are helping to harmonize your bodily organs and fortify them, balance your nervous system and regenerate glands, but this is only what you don’t see.  What you feel and what you actually see in the mirror is amazing. The principles of yoga are simply: relaxation, breathing, the positions (called asanas), concentration and inner detachment.

Nowadays, there are many different types of yoga for every level, so you have no excuse.  All you need to do is pick the one the best suits you and off you go. The following are some of the most popular types of yoga: Hatha Yoga, the most popular because it is the easiest. Kundalini Yoga, the mother of yoga and the most powerful due to its use of energy and chacras. Raja Yoga, prolonged meditation, for those who need inner peace. Trantra Yoga, the father of yoga, the spiritual yoga. Siddha Yoga, uses spiritual and emotional meditation. Mantra Yoga, uses the repetition of mantras as its mayor force.

Now that you are well informed, pick up a yoga matt, get those yoga pants, breath in and out and head out to your nearest yoga center to become enlightend and is shape.

Keeping Hair Healthy in the Winter Months

Posted by ferran on 27 Oct 2006 | Tagged as: About Love Antiaging

pelo.jpg

We all think that the summer is the worst time of the year of our hair,  but the winter months can do the same damage or more to our mane.  It is always important to maintain the healthy habits of the warmer months in the coldest part of the year. We first have to figure out what our hair type is and take into consideration the climate of our surroundings.

It is imperative that we always wash our hair with the appropriate shampoo indicated for our type of hair and use a daily conditioner and weekly protective masks to repair dead ends and very dry hair. We should also avoid the hair drier (which is usually used more frequently in the winter months), as well as the curling iron and those new trendy “iron your hair” products.

As with everything in beauty, a daily ritual and maintenance in the winter is what will keep us looking healthy and happy, maybe not warm but you are on your own there.
