Cronobiology, your internal clock

Posted by julia on 13 Abr 2007 | Tagged as: The Loveantiaging way of life

Each one of us has our own internal clock and if we have any changes to this in our lives, such as the recent time change, we could suffer biological consequences that could make us sick. I admit that my internal clock is a little off, I´m a night person and love to sleep in all morning long.. although I don´t get to do that as often as I like.

Cronobiology is a science that studies the biological functions of our bodies, being physical or emotional. Our body regulates itself according to precise cycles that are regulated by the biorhythms or our internal clock.

So what does all that mean? Well, this is how I see it.. We need to respect our internal clock because it is the boss, trying to change or modify our internal clock is asking for problems. Our body is very intelligent and knows what it needs, we need to stay alert and aware of what it is asking us for and make sure we are responding accordingly..

Skingenic for beautiful skin

Posted by julia on 12 Abr 2007 | Tagged as: beauty products

Here is another line of cosmetics that is going to help us stay as beautiful and young as can be. Skingenic anti-aging products protect the skin and help rejuvenate your face. The regenerating moisturizer has lychee complex, which gives you an instant glow giving your appearance a radical new look-

These products are not the cheapest but from the testimonials I have read they are worth every penny, and price becomes meaningless.I´m not sure if I will have the opportunity to try them, but if i start saving a little this week, I may just indulge..

New drinkable cosmetic from Borba

Posted by julia on 10 Abr 2007 | Tagged as: Beauty, food

Guess what? There is no need to apply hydrating or anti wrinkle cream any more, all you need to do is drink your creams, with this I mean, in specially packaged bottles of liquid that will make you beautiful from the inside.. The cosmetics firm Borba offers you this solution. Very curios don’t you think? I thought the same, so I investigated these products a little more and wanted to know what were the magical ingredients that were going to make my wrinkles go away. I picked the drink called “age-defying” and took a look at its ingredients which are:

WATER, NATURAL FLAVORS, DL-ALPHA TOCOPHEROL ACETATE, MAGNESIUM GLUCONATE, CITRIC ACID,GREEN TEA EXTRACT, POTASSIUM PHOSPHATE DIBASIC, ASCORBIC ACID, GRAPE SEED EXTRACT, SUCRALOSE, SILICON DIOXIDE, NIACINAMIDE, CHAMOMILE EXTRACT, ACAI EXTRACT, CALCIUM PANTOTHENATE, ZINC PICOLINATE, VITAMIN A PALMITATE, PYRIDOXINE HYDRLCHLORIDE, RED LAKE 40, CALCIUM SULFATE DIHYDRATE, FD&C BLUE #1, VITAMIN B-12, SELENIUM AA COMPLEX, VITAMIN K-1.

Wouldn’t´ it be better to just have a salad with some juice and call it a day? I mean to pay $30 for 12 bottles of chemically enhanced water is not the best solution for wrinkles.. but I´ll let you decide.

Men´s grooming products

Posted by julia on 09 Abr 2007 | Tagged as: beauty products, mens health

It has been a while since I write a post for our anti-aging man so here goes. I would like to talk about a line of beauty products called Baxter of California an American cosmetics company who have been developing men’s grooming products since 1965, way before the metrosexual man was born.

Baxter complete understands men’s skin care and realizes that a mans skin is much different than women’s. Men usually have oilier and thicker skin and lets not forget the stubble that grows out of them daily. Products need to be a little stronger to be able to penetrate the dermis and be able to help the overall skin condition.

This line of products is complete with vitamin D soaps, mint toners, shampoos and hair masks all at a very affordable price. Worth a try for all you men out there.

Do we really need to use eye cream?

Posted by julia on 06 Abr 2007 | Tagged as: Beauty, beauty products

My husband can’t understand why I have creams for every part of my face and body. Yesterday, he asked me why I jut didn’t use one cream for everything? They are not the same, I answered, to which he responded, don’t be fooled, cosmetic companies are lying to the public and just want to make money from you and that if I used just one cream for everything I would have the same results. My first thought was, he is crazy, but it did get me thinking. Do I really need to use so many different creams?

I only thought about this for about half a second and responded to myself. Yes, I could use just one cream but I sincerely doubt I will get the same results as if I were using specific treatment products. One great example is eye cream. You need one to remove the puffiness and dark circles,  a cream that has vitamin C and caffeine as key ingredients and one to minimize the wrinkles and smooth out the skin with retinol and alpha hydrxoy as a key ingredient. Eyes creams are also formulated with smaller molecules to penetrate the skin better .

So, to my husband I say … mind your own business and to you I say.. use what you feel you need at the time. There is a great website called dermstore where you can find specific treatment creams for anything you desire. Have fun experiment and use as much creams and potions as you like!

Do you eat everything that is on your plate?

Posted by julia on 05 Abr 2007 | Tagged as: food

huge-food-portions.gif

My husband just got back from a trip to the United States and he was amazed by the amount of food that was given when you eat out in any restaurant. No one could possibly eat everything on their plate or could they? Some of us have been told from a very early age, “eat everything on your plate or no dessert”, well I’m not sure if that is the best advise to give to anyone specially when eating out in the states.

Living in Europe I’m used to smaller portions which even if you eat everything on your plate, you are more than likely not going to get far (well, depending what you are eating). I wonder why restaurants in the U.S find the need to over stuff their clients? Don’t they see they are making their citizens unhealthy?

The longevity of your parents links to your health

Recent studies from the University of Boston indicate that the longevity of your parents is linked directly to your health, particularly to the risks of a cardiovascular disease. If one of both of your parents has lived to at lest 85 years of age your cardiovascular risks in your medium years.

This data is not something new, scientists realize that there a healthy lifestyle is not the only key factor to your health, genetics play a big part of your own longevity. This is not to say that if our parents pass away before this key age you are doomed to have a disease, a healthy diet is the counterpart of longevity.

Luxurious creams from Dior

Posted by julia on 03 Abr 2007 | Tagged as: beauty products

dior-tratamiento.gif
In this blog I try to write a little about every type of treatment and anti aging solutions I could come across. Within the treatments, there are many variations from the more economical creams to those a little more decadent. Each persona has their own likes and dislikes and most of all their beauty budget. I love creams and make-up and would try everything if I could but unfortunately some things are just out of my reach such as the specialty treatments from Dior.

Dior Products are not only packaged to “die for”, but they will leave you dead from shock when you ask their selling price. One such fancy cream called La Crème is available from Neiman Marcus for only $320, it boasts that it will eliminate wrinkles and leave your skin like new (It better do that and more for that price). I’m not sure if these products are going to truly turn back time for you, but if you have the $$ why not indulge?
