The actress Helen Mirren who has just won an Oscar for her portrayal of the Queen of England in the movie Queen, is not only a talented and smart woman she is a woman with pride and dignity.

A few months before the Oscars, Mirren was approached by several sources offering her plastic surgery so she could improve her appereance before the big day, where millions of spectators and beauty critics alike would be gawking and looking for something to critize, but she kindly refused stating that she rather use jewelry and clothing that suited her in order to look her best.

I´m glad to hear that there are a couple celebrities out there who are not afraid to show their age and are able to stand tall felling and looking their best. Age is an internal ingredient that should not be judged.

Do you think McDonalds and Burger Kings should be banned?

Posted by julia on 16 Mar 2007 | Tagged as: Health, food

Last night I was watching the documentary called “Super Size Me” by Morgan Spurlock who shows how in just one month of eating fast food three times a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner) gained more than 27 pounds and raised his cholesterol levels 40 percent. Making doctors warn him that if he continues eating that way he would not only destroy his liver but possibly his heart.

Last week prince Charles of England suggested that all McDonalds be banned in the UK. I´m not sure if that is that solution but it is true that fast food is making Americans fat and is slowly invading Europe. Kids learn to eat this type of food, that is cheap and fast and don´t realize the harm they are causing their bodies.

Each one of us in in charge of the foods we offer our kids and we need to set an example of what eating right is all about. If we want a longer healthier life we need to be conscious of where we eat and not abuse our bodies with foods that could ultimately kill us.

Eating variety is eating right

In earlier posts we have talked about the color of foods and the importance of eating different colors daily. This is stating that a variety of foods are what really helps maintain our bodies functioning at their maximum potential.

You should try to avoid eating the same foods over and over. You shouldn’t´t have the same thing for breakfast, lunch and dinner every single day even if its something healthy such as salad or vegetables that are necessary for our daily nutrition, but repetition is not good. You need to have a variation of foods and eat a little bit of everything everyday in moderation.

Could looking your age be a bad thing?

Posted by julia on 14 Mar 2007 | Tagged as: Beauty, The Loveantiaging way of life

It seems that nowadays if you are more than 40 years old you and you haven´t had any type of plastic surgery you are a bit of an oddiitie. At about 30 years old women, more than men start to worry about their appearance and run to their nearest plastic surgeon, start applying anti-aging creams or simply don´t do anything at all and let time take its course on their bodies.

I think anti-aging is a word we are pretty much used to by now but it might mean different things to different people. We are confusing this word, to me anti-aging is something we do to fix our insides and that in turn helps our overall outer appearance. If you take care of yourself there is no need to have the face of a 20 year old girl when you are about to turn 50.

Anti-Anging is a state of mind, it is the perception we have of our lives. If you are happy with yourself don´t let magazines, television or your friends convince you that you need a lifting.

Anorexia, a disease that starts early and kills

Posted by julia on 13 Mar 2007 | Tagged as: Health, The Loveantiaging way of life

In this blog we talk a lot about how to take care of ourselves, and the worries we have about getting older. Many of us don´t really start to worry about our looks or health until we are in our 30´s and we start to see how fast time really goes. but all this needs to start sooner, we need to start education our children on how to live a healthy lifestyle without letting them get obsesses with their body image. Each one of us are special beings in our own way and need to remember that. Yesterday I saw an incredible youtube video about anorexia and it left me speechless. it may me think that we are in a great danger and have a huge responsibility with our youth. We need to continue educating them and give them lost of love and support to allow them to grow up to be healthy individuals in body and mind.

Kate Winselt against anorexia

Posted by julia on 13 Mar 2007 | Tagged as: Health, celebrities

The famous actress Kate Winselt is not only famous for her enormous talent, she is an excellent role model for young girls. She has currently become an activist against anorexia and improper nutrition in young girls. She is a woman who is very at ease with her body even though it is not perfection according to some Hollywood types.

Teenager´s obsession with weight has become an alarming issue this past decades. We could blame the fashion magazines and the ultra thin models that seem to float through he runways, all not realistic views of a woman. Kate Winselt is begging young women to not fall in the tramp. Young girls need to learn from an early age that being very thin is not healthy and in the end not very attractive. We need to encourage girls to become aware of the signs of trouble and start to help each other fight this horrible mental disease.

Morning exercise gives you energy all day long

Posted by julia on 12 Mar 2007 | Tagged as: Health, getting in shape, exercie

We sometimes ask ourselves which is the best time to exercise. I don´t really have a lot of energy very early in the morning but it is said that it is the best time to get your body moving.

Even though you may have to work and have the responsibility of taking care of your family it shouldn’t´t be an excuse to exercise in the morning. If you wake up half an hour or an hour earlier you can take advantage of the entire day.

Morning exercise gives you a shot of energy that lasts all day long, it regulates your appetite, it adjusts biological rhythms, improves your mental state and helps you burn more calories than at any other time.

Worth it huh?, I think so, even though it is easier said than done with a little effort it might also be easier than you think.

What to look for in an anti-aging clinic

Posted by julia on 07 Mar 2007 | Tagged as: Health, The Loveantiaging way of life

When you decide it is time to visit an anti-aging clinic so you can let the experts help you set up a nutritional diet, vitamins and overall change your lifestyle, you need to make sure you are going to a professional place.

The first thing you need to do is investigate the clinic you wish to visit. Nowadays, almost all clinics have their own web sites where you can get all the information you need as well as view pictures of the clinic. Don´t be afraid to call them and asked them all the questions that are on your mind.

La Clinique de Paris in Alicante is one of the best anti-aging clinics in Europe, with educated professionals that will help you with anything you need. It is the best example of what an anti-again clinic should be.
