Sleep well and wake up looking younger

Sleep is one of the first rules of beauty. If we don’t rest our bodies completely at night we wake up exhausted, in a bad mood and not looking quite our best. I envy little babies that get to sleep for hours on end, look how good they look. I’m not saying we should sleep 12 or more hours a day like they do, but enough to keep us healthy.

It is better to sleep 6 hours of deep sleep than 9 hours of tossing and turning. The recommended hours for a good night sleep in an adult are about 8 hours but each person has their own internal clock that allows them to sleep less or need more. In this day an age I think most of us need more sleep, there is not enough time in the day to get everything done and we are up all hours of the night trying to complete all our tasks.

Here are some suggestion on how to get a better night sleep: Make sure to go to bed at the same time every night, use a comfortable mattress, relax completely and forget about the day that has passed, take a warm bath with your favourite bath oil, and if all else fails drink a glass of warm milk, like mom use to give you or drink some chamomile tea (my salvation).

If we are able to keep a healthy lifestyle during the day, exercise regularly and eat well we will prevent bad nights and we will invite a deep sleep that will take us to our journey of our dreams and allow us to wake up bright and cheery the next morning.

You don’t have to get all twisted up like a pretzel to be able to practice yoga and you should practice yoga because the benefits are many. By practicing yoga and turning your body into positions you might think are a little strange you are helping to harmonize your bodily organs and fortify them, balance your nervous system and regenerate glands, but this is only what you don’t see.  What you feel and what you actually see in the mirror is amazing. The principles of yoga are simply: relaxation, breathing, the positions (called asanas), concentration and inner detachment.

Nowadays, there are many different types of yoga for every level, so you have no excuse.  All you need to do is pick the one the best suits you and off you go. The following are some of the most popular types of yoga: Hatha Yoga, the most popular because it is the easiest. Kundalini Yoga, the mother of yoga and the most powerful due to its use of energy and chacras. Raja Yoga, prolonged meditation, for those who need inner peace. Trantra Yoga, the father of yoga, the spiritual yoga. Siddha Yoga, uses spiritual and emotional meditation. Mantra Yoga, uses the repetition of mantras as its mayor force.

Now that you are well informed, pick up a yoga matt, get those yoga pants, breath in and out and head out to your nearest yoga center to become enlightend and is shape.

Add a splash of color to your life with Cromotherapy

Posted by julia on 31 Oct 2006 | Tagged as: therapies

cromoterapia.jpg

Truth be said, depending on how I feel in the morning is how I get dressed, picking out what colors to wear varies on my mood.  Naturally, our eyes are sensible to the frequency of light vibrations, and this allows our mind to actually feel colors, hence affecting our moods daily.

Healing by color or as it is otherwise referred to as,  cromotherapy is an ancient practice. Each color is represented and has its own function, for example red connects with our vital energy, sexuality and creative processes, orange connects with our physical movement and our emotions and so on all the colors of the spectrum.

Many people believe that with the help of a cromotherapy specialist, they could alleviate many symptoms that accompany various illnesses, help with depression and help your overall wellbeing.  In places like the Bagua de Barcelona, cromotherapy is used to balance the mind and body.

What color will you wear tomorrow? Give it some thought and start to brighten up your days with a little splash of color.

Keeping Hair Healthy in the Winter Months

Posted by julia on 27 Oct 2006 | Tagged as: About Love Antiaging

We all think that the summer is the worst time of the year of our hair,  but the winter months can do the same damage or more to our mane.  It is always important to maintain the healthy habits of the warmer months in the coldest part of the year. We first have to figure out what our hair type is and take into consideration the climate of our surroundings.

It is imperative that we always wash our hair with the appropriate shampoo indicated for our type of hair and use a daily conditioner and weekly protective masks to repair dead ends and very dry hair. We should also avoid the hair drier (which is usually used more frequently in the winter months), as well as the curling iron and those new trendy “iron your hair” products.

As with everything in beauty, a daily ritual and maintenance in the winter is what will keep us looking healthy and happy, maybe not warm but you are on your own there.

Lentils to fight off Anaemia just a myth

Posted by julia on 27 Oct 2006 | Tagged as: food

lentejas.jpg

We have always heard our mothers say “eat your lentils, they are good for you and will provide you with iron and give you strength”, yes, Mother you are right but you will need to eat these along with other vitamin rich foods if you expect them to help you fight off diseases, because even though lentils are rich in iron, sugared substances, proteins, vitamins and minerals hat will help you stay strong, new studies suggest that they are not sufficient to cure anaemia.

Nowadays, scientist has discovered that the body absorbs the iron that comes from animal substances better than its vegetable counterpart. So, if we eat vegetable iron foods, we need to combine them with other foods rich in vitamin C and iron such as orange and tomato that together will help you maintain healthy levels of iron to strengthen your immune system.

All women, especially those of a fertile age are more prone to all types of anaemia, even more those women who are dieting, but as long as we know the facts and eat the adequate foods for our bodies we will continue to maintain our body healthy and strong
